Anthropic has named Guillaume Princen to lead its operations across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Alongside this appointment, the company will expand its European presence by opening additional roles and reinforcing its existing offices in Dublin and London, with plans to create more than 100 new positions across various functions including sales, engineering, research, and business operations.
Guillaume Princen brings extensive experience in expanding technology companies in multiple markets. Notably, he was Stripe’s first employee outside the United States, where he played a key role in establishing and scaling the company’s European operations over a seven-year period by opening 12 offices and driving the region’s growth. His background also includes serving as CEO of Mooncard, an innovative expense management platform, as well as influential roles in engineering, strategic consulting at McKinsey & Company, and active participation in the European technology startup ecosystem as both an investor and advisor.
In his new role, Princen emphasized that the planned expansion is a timely response to the increasing demand for advanced AI capabilities that integrate high standards of security and privacy. He noted that European organizations are increasingly attracted to the company’s intelligent and efficient solutions, which combine powerful performance with refined design aesthetics. This strategic hiring initiative will not only support the growing European customer base but also ensure that Anthropic continues its commitment to responsible AI development aligned with the region’s exacting expectations.
Further reinforcing its commitment to the European market, Anthropic recently established a new research-focused office in Zurich, led by AI specialist Neil Houlsby. This development, coupled with the new leadership appointment, underscores the company’s vision of serving both the dynamic startup ecosystem and major enterprises throughout the region.
Daniela Amodei, President and co-founder of Anthropic, highlighted Europe’s central role in the company’s strategic vision. She remarked that the organic growth in both business and consumer sectors had confirmed the region’s importance for future expansion. The appointment of Guillaume Princen is seen as a crucial step in executing a thoughtful, long-term investment plan to serve the evolving needs of European organizations.
